This is a lovely place to eat, and the management are very proud of the fact that they source all of their veggies and meats locally and from sustainable sources. I was also impressed with the vegetarian options on offer. It has a nice sunny terrace and views that take your breath away, the staff are all very polite and nothing seems to be too much trouble, even when i asked for items that were not on the menu. If you are in the area this is one restaurant not to miss, i even attended one of the entertainment nights whilst i was there, i had a great time and the singer was very good indeed. I will go back next time i am in town. Well done to all of you.

Hello Beachcomber, keep looking out for any dates for the singer Red, nothing yet, love your food and love her voice, Thats a night out.came in oct and only just got table so must be popular, but nothing since. More red please.

  3. Beachcomber John

Great news, we now have entertainment on all day Sunday 3rd February on Mojacar Playa, you can be entertained by various singers, both in English and Spanish. Line dancers, zumba, excercise class, hula hoop and Tai Chi demonstrations plus DJ Ian in between acts.

There are about 45 stalls already booked to go on the paseo and there is plenty of room for more. Do you want a stand???

The Guinness Book of world records are coming down to record our attempt at the longest ever ribbon and you can help by buying one from many venues for €1.00. Maybe put a loved ones name on it before tying it yourself to the end on the day.
For more information telephone Bronia on 616424555 or 950472200.

Hello Roy, there was a bit of a problem with the adsl supply over Xmas but its all up and running now on both 32 and 64 bit systems, happy new year. John.

  5. Roy

I’ve enjoyed checking the cameras in the past. Unfortunately after an upgrade to a 64 bit laptop and Chrome I’ve lost them. I tried IE but no luck. Is there anything you can do your end? 64 bit seems more common place now.

  6. Beachcomber John

Thank you Pete and Jean, hope you come out to see us soon, weve missed you. I would like to wish all our friends a great Xmas and New Year. xxx

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AT BEACHCOMBER ,ALL THE BEST FOR 2013

EasyJet is increasing its flights between Belfast International Airport and Birmingham in response to high demand.
A second Sunday flight departing at 13.25 from Belfast and 14.50 from Birmingham will be added to the schedule from 31 March 2013.

  9. Beachcomber John

Many Easyjet flights are bookable now up until 20th October 2013, check your route. John.

  10. Beachcomber John

Ryanair to extend the frequency of its flights from Edinburgh to Alicante.

  11. Beachcomber John

I’m pleased to report it looks like David’s understanding of the article here, which is misleading, http://www.ideal.es/ re Ryanair pulling out of Almeria totally looks like it is not correct and Ryanair’s own announcement yesterday seems to confirm it is only Madrid and Barcelona that will be affected at the moment. Thank goodness for that.

  12. Beachcomber John

Monarch are starting flights from Manchester to Almeria on the 2nd May and doing two a week, Thursdays and Sundays. Same days as Thomas Cook and Thomsons but hey its good news.
    http://bookflights.monarch.co.uk/

  13. Beachcomber John

Good news, fears that Ryanair had dropped the Stansted to Almeria were not founded and they have recently put them up for sale if only three days a week from 2nd April 2013 on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

  14. Beachcomber John

Good and bad news, Ryanair appear to have dropped the Stansted to Almeria route for next year but they are bringing back the Almeria to Madrid route from 31st March 2013. Fingers crossed for Corvera and Ryanair then.

  15. Beachcomber John

From December 7th, Hispania Airways will launch two flights a week from Gatwick to Granada.

  16. Beachcomber John

Thomas Cook’s flights for next summer are below.
Their flights start on the 2nd May 2013 and will be Thursdays into Almeria. Departing airports are Manchester, London Gatwick and Birmingham. Sundays will be flights from Gatwick via Easyjet, Manchester and Birmingham via Flybe.

  17. Beachcomber John

Hi Bob, yeah problems with Movistar’s adsl being out, caused by the wind yesterday, have reported it but you know what Spain’s like, its a third world country really, thanks for letting me know, John.

  18. MojacarBob

    Hi John

Can’t seem to get the web cams, is it me or do you have a problem your end?

    Mojacarbob

  19. Beachcomber John

Hi Paul, it is a public holiday but we open 365, (Winter hours 10 til 4pm daytimes only except for entertainment nights etc) Cheers, John.

  20. Paul

Are you open Thursday 1st November or is it a holiday?

  21. Beachcomber John

Thanks Roy, will look forward to seeing you next year, kind regards, John.

  22. Roy

Followed a link from holidaytruths to get here after seeing a post about cameras in the area.
These are the best I’ve seen for a camera placed in a bar / hotel etc, not just in Mojacar but anywhere! Impressive even though connecting is a bit hit and miss. It’s a pity there’s a filter to install that would put many people off as it’s an .exe, my route of a download, virus check and install is more than most would bother with.

Anyway, I’m planning a bit of a small road trip in the area next year, I’ve never been in the area before and Mojacar is one of my stops after arrival in Malaga and a stop in Granada.

You can expect a vist from me, I’d like to ask how you did it over a beer.

  23. Beachcomber John

Jet2.com is launching a new route to Murcia in Spain. (San Javier or Corvera they appear seem to be saying)
It will be the first time Murcia is served from Glasgow Airport.
Flights to Murcia will depart every Monday and Friday from May 24 2013.

  24. MojacarBob

Great, the web cams are working, well done John, I can now see Mojacar again

  25. Beachcomber John

Yes sorry Bob, the router (New one) broke and is being replaced today hopefully so have a look tomorrow, fingers crossed, John.

  26. MojacarBob

    John

Only started looking at the web cams last week and now I can’t get them. I’ve re-loaded the filters but no joy.
Is there a problem your end?

  27. Beachcomber John

Thanks Richard and well done Bob.

  28. MojacarBob

Just got the web cams working on my PC, great shots, now I can check on the weather and all that I am missing when I’m in the UK

  29. richard green

just had a great night. RED, on , her voice is quality, carnt wait till the 24th, Carpenters great, and her show is entertainment, well worth the money.spoke to her tonight, said she was looking forward to the beachcomber, so are we, LOVE IT.

  30. Beachcomber John

Mojacar’s Rio Agua looked more like the Zambezi river.

  31. Beachcomber John

From the 16th of June 2013 Easyjet have cancelled their route from Stansted to Alicante.

Not good news for many, but there are other options, Luton, Southend and Gatwick and of course Ryanair on the cancelled route. I’m guessing Easyjet are trying to get out of Stansted with the likely hood of Ryaniar owning it in part from next year or at least expanding their operations there. Easyjet will no doubt expand those other airports and hopefully do a Corvera route, confirmation soon would be nice!

  32. Beachcomber John

Hia, yeah the floods (This latest lot) didn’t do us too much damage thankfully. I don’t do the forums quite so much as Facebook really has taken over and everything in a crisis is so instant. You can find me and whats going on in the area and especially new flights and local stuff by asking to become a friend on Facebook. Look up ‘John Beachcomber’. All the best, John.

  33. Ron Remnant

    John,

john – ben out there many times over the last 20 years and enjoyed the food! Will be out late Tuesday for 3 weeks – have you survived the floods? Missing your gossip on the forums, or have you moved to a new one, it was our contact with the changing face of Mojacar between visits! hope to see you this visit

  34. Beachcomber John

Hi Richard, yes we have Red singing her tribute (Among other singers) to The Carpenters on 24th October. (See link to entertainment at the top of the page)
Booking a table is advisable but you are also welcome to come along on the night, take a table if one is available or watch from the bar area, cheers, John.
P.S. Booking is only necessary if you want to eat and be guaranteed a table seat.

Hi John and thank you very much for your kind words. I look forward to seeing you both next year, John.

  35. John Rasmussen

John we fly home tonight and have enjoyed the food that you serve in your establishment. Today we had the lasagne which was excellent we look forward to our next visit which unfortunately wont be till next year but if you start doing takeaways let us know ,seriously we look forward to next time god willing you and your staff have made us strangers very welcome like home from home.adios.

  36. richard green

recently moved to the area, sore a singer at a hotel in vera,i sore on a forum you have her on in oct, she is called red, would we have to book a table, or could we just come on the night, she has a beautiful voice. can we also just come and listen and have drinks or do you have to eat.
    RICHARD GREEN

  37. Beachcomber John

I’m pleased to announce the web cams are up and running again and on 64 bit systems too and hopefully on any browser, John.

  38. Amanda and Steve

It may of been hail stoning followed by a bad thunder storm but my lunch today at the Beachcomber Restaurant was totally scrumptious!!! Great Food!! Great Service!! & Great Company :-)

  39. Beth Underhill

Nick Gold was one of the best acts i have seen at the Beachcomber Mojacar, excellent entertainment x

  40. Barbara

bsolutely fantastic night we all had john, think he was the very best of all. and cant wait for him to be back. food very good too. x barbara beth and company. charlie should have come. told him. lol.x

  41. Beachcomber John

Sorry but we will lose our web cams for maybe a week from Monday 2nd April, we are upgrading the hardware and hopefully everyone will be able to see the three cameras once this is successfully done.
    http://beachcombermojacar.com/beachcomber-webcam/

Edit: An important part I ordered from the USA is stuck in Spanish customs! It only cost $49.00 and you would think I was a flipping smuggler, keep your fingers crossed ‘manana’ doesn’t last too long this time!

Edit: The fiddling Spanish customs charged me €33.00 duty so about 100% of cost but more importantly I now have the part and the new computer is now about to be built and so with fingers crossed we will have the cameras running again soon. With a final bill of over €2000 to get a webcam system that actually works I know I wouldn’t do it again but its nearly done and I hope you will enjoy it.

  42. Beachcomber John

Hi Jane, its tough at the moment, I’m fully booked act wise for evening entertainment until September (None in August) even acts you cannot see elsewhere other than a 200 mile drive aren’t filling the bar 50% of the nights now. (Too many people copying what I do with tributes) If we are not nearly full we don’t make any money and I think a local act that can be seen elsewhere in the area will have less of a pull.

The only way I can do one with Red or any other local entertainer is the same as a JC night we have in March, a group of people asked me to book him and guaranteed to book 50% of the seats. Job done and we are full for that night. I can do a three course meal and a local entertainer for €10.00 to €12.00.

As for Sunday afternoons it just doesn’t work and even the small amount (As against night time fees) we have paid acts has been a loser most Sundays, people don’t drink enough to pay the fee, simple as that.

I hope you appreciate my honest reply, its how it is, John.

  43. jane philips

hi john, have you any dates booked with RED yet, for sunday,s or evening,s .
    love her voice, and BEACHCOMBER,
    info please JANE

  44. Jake

Cool tell me when H is back round

  45. Beachcomber John

Sorry the webcam has been down again and it started when we tried to fit the new hard drive to get the 64 bit operating system working. No good and there doesn’t seem to be a way round it and it goes to show the whole internet world is still 3rd world sometimes!
I am now going to have to go to the expense of having my own server to be able to offer everyone the wonderful views our cameras offer. Anyway the 32 bit system should be working again sometime tomorrow and I’ll sort the 64 bit out asap.

If you can have a look at the cameras on Saturday from 12.30pm as the Paseo is the venue for the Mojacar World Cancer Day with stalls and a 2 mile long pink ribbon we hope.

    John.

  46. Beachcomber John

Hi Peter and thanks for your comments. You really did miss a good afternoon and Red was great. we haven’t got a return date booked with her as yet and will no doubt work something out for the new year when hopefully things pick up.
Best wishes and please call in for a chat sometime, John.

  47. PETER BENNETT

Sore RED in nov < could,nt get there yesterday, not very happy . Do you have her booked again soon. Carpenters please. great voice.

Flights are available now on the website. From 1st May and this morning at €29.99 plus the extras.

  49. Beachcomber John

Thanks Jane and Wayne. For those trying to see the Beachcomber web cams they can only be seen using Explorer and with a 32 bit operating system. We are awaiting a patch for 64 bit OS’s and Firefox, Google Chrome etc etc. John.

    THANKS JOHN .
I AM LOOKING TO SEEING YOU ONLINE AGAIN .

  59. Beachcomber John

Hi Pete, there has been some problems (As always) and I am having to have a computer on line 24 hours a day just to host the cameras. The new computer and cameras are hopefully being married up on Friday.

I know you will be pleased with the outcome as the cameras are already working and recording but I’m just not able to get them worldwide yet.

A €300 idea that’s going to finish up costing over €1000, I hope its appreciated by everyone and it puts some bums on seats!

    John.

Edit: 7th November. Its all coming along, we have the designated computer working with the camera and its now on line, just got to get the camera’s site to accept the Beachcomber website now! John.
